Moving Companies come in all shapes and sizes.  There are huge international firms that move people all over the world. Then there are three college students who buy a used van and are out to make tuition money. And every size in between. How do you choose?

In a word, get bids.  Movers are used to coming out and giving you a fairly accurate estimate. Some will do it over the phone or even online and can guess the cost by how you answer a few short questions. If they charge, make sure that is deducted off your bill if you choose them.

Have a list of questions to ask each of the Moving Companies you contact and write down the answers so you can compare them to each other. Be watchful of hidden fees such as extra to maneuver stairs and elevators, mileage, paying for the driver as well as the moving men  without that being disclosed how many there will be, and paying for fuel if you are moving within the same city, state or province.
