Plastic Packaging

Plastic Packaging is quickly becoming the most common means to get a product to the shelf.  Think about all of the things you bought in the past week that were somehow housed in plastic.

Let's look at the typical breakfast menu. Did you buy a gallon of milk? It may have been in a plastic bottle.  How about your bread? Did it come in a plastic wrapper? Next, the cereal. Perhaps it came in a cardboard box, but there was probably a moisture resistant lining.  If you had a frozen breakfast meal, it most likely was microwavable. Was it in a molded dish vacuum sealed with a plastic film or wrapped in a plastic sleeve?  Either way, it came in a Plastic Packaging, didn't it?

So was the latest toy for your kids or electronic gadget for you.  Yeah, everyone struggles to get that stiff packaging open. Perhaps even the batteries were plastic sealed instead of being in a box.  Food Packaging is also made in plastic. Motor oil used to come in a pierceable can. Now it comes in plastic, pour bottles.

It seems everything that doesn't have a pulse is housed in plastic today. Your wireless mouse, the keyboard, even the computer you are using right now has parts encased in the stuff. The reason plastic is becoming more prevalent is it is cheap to produce and can be shaped in just about any size and shape imaginable. In fact, it is a pretty sure bet that the Packaging Design of today will most likely include some plastic packaging somewhere along the line.
